Essentia Memoria

Compatibility & accessibility

What works today, on which device, with which controls and in which language. Nothing here is claimed without a test behind it.

Before you start

  • The living world is for members. Pricing, help and this page are open to everyone.
  • Essentia runs in your web browser. There is no downloadable app, console or VR version yet.
  • Nothing below is marked “Supported” until a person has tested it on a real device. Automated tests alone never count.

    Experimental

Same engine as Chrome. Not tested separately yet.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

Should run, but not tested yet.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

Phones and tablets

  • Android phone — Chrome

    Experimental

Touch controls exist (on-screen stick, drag to look). Tested only with phone emulation, not on a real phone yet.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Android phone — Samsung Internet

    Experimental

Same engine family as Chrome. Not tested yet.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • iPhone — Safari

    Experimental

Should run, but not tested on an iPhone yet. Your last position may not be saved if iOS closes the tab.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Install as an app (PWA)

    Experimental

You can add Essentia to your home screen. The install button only appears in Settings, and an offline page exists.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

Apps

  • Android app (Google Play)

    Blocked

A wrapper exists in the code but has never been signed, installed or published.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • iPhone / iPad app (App Store)

    Blocked

No iOS app exists yet. Use Safari on iPhone instead.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

Virtual reality

  • Meta Quest / standalone VR

    Blocked

On a world’s surface the headset shows the same world, with teleport, snap turning and a comfort vignette. Checked in a headset emulator only — never yet on a real Quest. Not in the store.

    Last checked: October 25, 2026

  • PC VR (SteamVR)

    Blocked

A desktop shell opens the game with access to the PC’s VR runtime. It has not been run with a real headset yet.

    Last checked: October 25, 2026

  • PICO

    Blocked

PICO’s browser runs WebXR, so the same headset view applies. Not tested on a PICO; not in its store.

    Last checked: October 25, 2026

  • Apple Vision Pro

    Blocked

Safari on the headset can open the same VR view; look-and-pinch acts like a tap. Not tested on the device; no App Store app.

    Last checked: October 25, 2026

  • PlayStation VR2

    Blocked

On a PC, PS VR2 runs through SteamVR and so uses the PC VR path. On a PS5 there is no browser VR; it needs a native console build.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • WebXR in the browser

    Experimental

On a world’s surface, Enter VR draws the same world in the headset at the headset’s refresh rate, with comfort settings. The universe view (space) is not drawn in VR yet. Checked in an emulator, not on a real headset.

    Last checked: October 25, 2026

Controls

  • Keyboard

    Experimental

W A S D or the arrow keys move you; Space jumps; F toggles your lamp. Keys cannot be changed yet.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Mouse

    Experimental

Drag to look around; click things to use them.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Touch

    Experimental

An on-screen stick moves you — pushed past its ring it runs — a round pad on the right jumps, dragging looks around, tapping selects. Played with a finger only on a headless phone profile, not on a real phone; there is no speed between a walk and a run.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Controller / gamepad

    Planned

Not usable for the whole journey yet: on a planet the triggers move you, but you cannot look around, use things or open menus.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Gyro (tilt to look)

    Planned

    Not available.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Motion sensors

    Planned

Only used to count your real steps when you allow it; not a control.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Microphone

    Experimental

Asked only when you choose to speak to the Oracle, never on page load. Stops when you leave the tab.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Voice input

    Experimental

Speaking to the Oracle works in Chrome, Edge and Safari; not in Firefox.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Voice and video calls

    Experimental

An incoming call waits for you to accept. Your microphone is used only after you tap Accept.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Camera

    Experimental

Used only for video calls you accept, and on phones to drive the real torch when you light your lamp.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Screen reader

    Planned

Pages like this one work with a screen reader; the 3D world does not yet.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Switch access

    Planned

    Not available.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Vibration

    Experimental

Phones that support vibration feel some moments. iPhones and controllers do not vibrate yet.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • VR controllers

    Experimental

Trigger acts on what you look at, the grip goes back, the left stick teleports (or walks), the right stick turns. Emulator only.

    Last checked: October 25, 2026

  • Hand tracking

    Experimental

Your tracked hands are shown; a pinch acts like a tap, and look-and-pinch (Vision Pro) does too. Emulator only.

    Last checked: October 25, 2026

Accessibility

  • Keyboard-only navigation

    Experimental

A “skip to content” link and visible focus exist; the world moves with keys. Not every panel is reachable by keyboard yet.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Visible focus

    Experimental

    Focused controls show an outline.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Screen-reader labels

    Planned

The 3D world has no screen-reader path yet.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Larger text

    Experimental

Settings → Display can enlarge text up to 140%. Some labels in the world do not grow yet.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • High contrast

    Experimental

Settings → Display strengthens text and borders. The system “forced colours” mode is not supported yet.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Reduced motion

    Experimental

Follows your system setting, or turn it on in Settings. Some effects still move.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Captions for the Oracle’s voice

    Experimental

What the Oracle says appears as text. If your browser cannot speak aloud, the caption may not appear.

    Not available.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

    Planned

There is no pause yet. You can always close the tab; your place is kept.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Volume and mute

    Experimental

Master volume and mute are saved. Separate music, effects and voice sliders are not applied yet.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • No time pressure

    Experimental

Nothing in the first journey fails because you were slow. Not every place has been checked.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

Reliability and privacy

  • Devices that cannot draw 3D

    Experimental

If your browser cannot draw the 3D world, you see why and a link to this page, instead of a dark screen. If 3D starts and then fails, you can continue without 3D, try again, or open this page.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026

  • Graphics quality

    Experimental

Quality is chosen automatically for your device. You cannot pick low / balanced / high yourself yet.

    Last checked: September 25, 2026
